2007 Summary

June
This June is a very meaningful month for me. I make a new step, I move out from my current home and go to an island and start my new life. Yes, working life. No more for student life. It is also a beginning for my ever first permenant working job.
It is a brand good, new and fresh things for me to start life journey with working. However, I need to learn a lot of things such as independent, rely on myself and do everything on myself. It is not a tough things for me as I had gone through university life and stay outside for 3 years.

After 3 weeks begin a new working life, everythings run smooth and ok. Well, I meet some difficulty when I come to DIY for a wardrobe and a desk. One small mistake causes everything goes wrong and cannot be completely done. I install the wood dowel into wrong holes and cannot complete the installation of the wardrobe.

Weirdos meet weird cases
Since I moved into Penang, I met a few weird cases. Firstly, I spoit DIY wradrobe and desk in the first week. This is the first case where I start my weirdos thing.
Another morning, I was sleeping on that time, it is almost time to wake up, I heard a sound like machine is going to turn down, slowly I open my eyelids, I saw the ceiling fan turned around and around, go slow around and around, finally it stopped functioning. I tried to use washing machine to wash my clothes...again weird things happen...it stopped function after washing the clothes!! It cannot rinse and dry up my clothes...sigh and sweat a lot!! I have to wash them again with my hands!!no idea...

My Job Description

"How are you recently? Have you find a job?"
"Yup, as a proofreader."

I can see there are many stars appear on the forehead of the man who ask for the question. Normally people will look at me with a blank face expression. Then, they will ask "What is that?" Some people say, "oh, proofreader...." (Actually they dunno what it is)

Many people dunno what is proofreader job field regards to.(Actually proofread is a professional job in foreign country, you may search it through internet, there is a lot of proofreader jobs outside Malaysia. Freelance proofreader is highly on demand. In this small island, not much people know about proofreading. Simple to say, a proofreader is a person who check the draft to find out mistake or any error XXXXX. Any draft that need to publish must go through proofreader to make sure there is least mistake written in the draft. Proofreader is needed for dictionary publishing, books and magazine publishing.

According to wikipedia,"Proofreading is considered a specific skill that must be learned because it is the nature of the mind to automatically correct errors. Someone not trained in proofreading may not see errors such as missing words or improper usage because their mind is showing them what it is trained to recognize as correct. The term proofreading is sometimes used incorrectly to refer to copy-editing. This is a separate activity, although there is some overlap between the two. Proofreading consists of reviewing any text, either hard copy (on paper) or electronic copy (on a computer) and checking for typos and formatting errors. This may be done either against an original document or "blind" (without checking against any other source). Many modern proofreaders are also required to take on some light copy-editing duties, such as checking for grammar and consistency issues."

However, I proofread those English draft with other languages drafts. I am not doing proofread for English.

So now I am thinking how to describe my job field.Should I say I work in a publishing company just that all? Or hehe...I am an OL only...do some paper work in office...hehehe

Monday "Surprise" 6/8/07

Today is Monday. This week I only need to work for 3 days as Thursday and Friday are company holidays. Don't be so happy, there is replacement for the holidays. However, today is a rush day for me. I expected that I will be late for work. Yesterday I hang out for whole day till very tired plus I was not enough sleep for the night before. I wake up at 740am. It was late. Suddenly, I heard fire brigade and the siren rang around my place. I didn't pay much attention as I was used to the siren already. Hear so near but dunno where happen the incident. Furthermore, I was late!!

Ouch! Stomach pain. Shit!! While doing big business, I heard somebody saying there is a fire. How to go out? Stomach keep struggling.

After all, I opened up door to look around. Nobody was running here and there, neighbours just relax and came out have a look. Everything still in the condition. Nobody shouting for fire also.

Ok, I continued with my breakfast. Again, I heard sounds from outside. "Why you don't shout "FIRE!" asking everybody to escape?" I was nervous. Where is the fire? I can't see smoke although I went to balcony and have a look. I don't care so much, in hurry I went for bath and changed my clothes then rushed to go out. Life is important than everything. It is better to save my life before anything.

I walked out and heard water splashing from the above of the ever left house. I looked up, up and up. I was not sure is level 16th or 17th on fire. The fire was put off. The smoke come out from the kitchen. Luckily nobody is injured. I feel release now.

I take the lift and go to take my car. There were 2 firemen with me in the lift. Smell smoky...Thanks to the firemen who come on time and succeed to put off the fire. Salute to them.

It is 815am. I never get so early to fetch my colleague. First time waiting for her. (Normally she waits for me...hehe)

"Why you come so early?"
"because..."
